4 Tips For Throwing A Beautiful Wedding On A Budget

Posted on

Planning a wedding can be very exciting, but many couples have budget constraints that make it necessary to keep a close eye on spending. Having a tight budget doesn't mean that you can't have a beautiful wedding. There are many ways to save cash without sacrificing the wedding ceremony and reception that you have always wanted. Use the following tips to help you plan a gorgeous wedding without breaking the bank:

Don't Have a Full Open Bar

A wedding is a celebratory event, and many people like to celebrate by enjoying an alcoholic drink. Hosting a full open bar can get quite expensive. You don't have to cut all alcohol out of your wedding reception, but if you want to save money, you may want to consider offering just beer and wine, and perhaps a signature cocktail. If possible, negotiate a flat fee for the alcohol package you select so you know exactly how much it will cost.

Have Your Reception in a Hotel Conference Room

Hotel ballrooms are popular venues for wedding receptions, but many brides forget to inquire about the conference rooms on site. Hotel conference rooms may not be quite as large or opulent as the ball room, but you can score big savings by holding your reception in one, especially if your wedding is scheduled during a time when the hotel does not book many conferences. With the right tablescapes, flowers, and decor, a conference room can be a gorgeous setting for a wedding reception, and you are sure to enjoy the lower price tag.

Consider a Plated Meal

Many brides assume that a buffet-style meal may be a less expensive option, but in reality a plated meal may end up costing less. With a buffet meal, there is no way to control portions, so caterers often have to prepare extra food to ensure that everyone is fed. With a plated meal, your caterer knows exactly how much food will be put on each plate, and you will know in advance exactly how much each plate will cost.

Think About Having your Wedding Earlier in the Day

Many weddings are in the evenings, but if you want to save money while still having the wedding of your dreams, it may be a good idea to have an early wedding ceremony with a brunch reception. Brunch food is typically less expensive than the food served at dinner, and most people will not consume as much alcohol earlier in the day.
